Red carpet is a strip of carpet, red in color, laid out to welcome VIP guests and dignatories. A red carpet has over the years turned in to a mark of respect for the guest.

Red carpet has now developed into a part of speech such as “red carpet treatment” to denote that the guest was given a special welcome and hospitality.

Red carpets are also rolled out to welcome celebrities and the walk for the Golden Globe awards is referred to as “Red Carpet”.
